Wednesday 2 Weekly #19
Join me, and I'll let you in on my secret -bumpy- path towards authorship & life as a self-employed creative.
Maha Aehir, and welcome! This is the two-weekly update about my Path to Authorship. And I’m also worldbuilding! In this edition, you’ll find:
NanoWrimo was bad. But also huge!
+ the Alvunne Saga is growing
Ever heard of a detective story quiz? (funny pictures below :p)
Find me on Twitch every Thursday
Walk, walked, walking.
✍️ NanoWriMo & the Alvunne Saga
It’s December! Aaargh. That means November is past and gone. Ooooeh. Is sadness a colour? Might be. Let’s see what happened last month.
Set a goal of
50.00030.00020.000 words to write.Wrote 12.088 words in creative writing.
The Alvunne Saga grew from 0 to 8924 words!
What happened? Well, being self-employed for just one year for starters. It’s been a rough but educational year. I’ve learned so much about paperwork, sales, worldbuilding, blogging, work-life balance (still not very sure what it means), …
Next to this, We’ve been addressing issues in the house. It’s been a month of meetings with potential firms to solve them, solving some of them ourselves, and consulting experts on this and that. I still love the house… <3
My World Anvil Novelember Certificate
So in the end I didn’t really reach my word goal, but who’s counting! It’s still been huge for my Path to Authorship. My PTA, if you will. Every new word added to my novel is a word well written! (even though many will undoubtedly be scrapped during editing ^^)
I decided to claim this win and download myself the official Novelember 2024 certificate. And nope, I won’t let the Sun go down on me. This challenge got me started on writing my novel, and for that I can proudly award myself this little treat & look forward to the next steps ^^
A Writing Workshop
Ine, my partner, coordinates a wonderful project named De Wondere Pluim (The Wondrous Quill (=not the official translation presumably)). It’s a Flemish writing contest for elementary school students. Last week, there was this fun workshop teaching teachers how to coach children in creative writing.
Though I am not a teacher, I was lucky enough to join the workshop and learn cool techniques to support young writers. How to create a safe space for writing & sharing those stories, how to strengthen self-esteem and light that creative fire we all share ^^
The workshop was by Zinderding!
🕵️ The detective quiz story
Can you expose a thief by playing a fun quiz? Sure! That’s what participants of our newest quiz kit do. It’s a Dutch quiz which players can play at any time and anywhere with a stable enough internet connection. We recorded it last Saturday and hosted it during a livestream event Monday!
This was me as Whodunnit, detective Trivius Pursuit’s assistant. And I was the art dealer too, and the gardener and the victim’s best friend. I’ll only unveil one other character below:
What is the Quizfabriek?
The Quizfabriek is a cultural non-profit focused on creating & hosting fun quizzes for everyone. I’m one of its founders and have had much fun with it so far + I’ve learned many skills as well, like hosing shows!
🎙️ Livestreaming the learning curve
That brings me to my weekly talk about worldbuilding & writing live on Twitch. It’s a great way to meet other writers and learn from their projects. That’s why I named it The Learning Curve! I’d love to meet you there!
Discover Aldus_Ken’s Thursday Learning Curve on Twitch here.
🚶 The life of me
Lastly, let’s talk about inspiring walks. I can’t help it, they inspire me. Just a nice walk and some music vibing my drums. It clears my head and resets my brain (a little). Or a drink and a view one doesn’t see every day.
What inspires you?

So, I’ll be writing the Alvunne Saga. Might join World Anvil’s WorldEmber but only if I manage to finish the first act of the saga. Oh, and here’s the Alvunne Saga logline once more ^^
The Alvunne Saga is a fantasy space opera.
”When a continental landmass protected by a magical sphere named Alvunne, rises from the bottom of Earth’s ocean and shoots into the blackness of space, a student and a teacher of the Flagship, a university space station, crash land on its surface with no hope of help from Earth.”
Thank you for reading & until next time! <3
Woa, congratulations on your meandering writing process and your very fine post. It was an honor to attend and coordinate the creative writing workshop with you. Now I look forward to the detective quiz as well as your next writing adventures. Until the next one, partner!
Thanks for sharing and congrats on progress! I did the same in claiming a win, as I am trying to do better with taking care of myself. The detective game seems cool! If it's not in English, I probably can't play it. However, I bet it's super fun! And you look great in costumes. Especially the detective one. 😁 Have a blessed one and much success with all the hectic stuff! Sending hugs always. 🙏🫂
