✍️ NanoWriMo & the Alvunne Saga
50.000 30.000 20.000 words in one month? No problem! As you can see, my goal has dropped significantly. That’s okay though. This adds a little self-preservation to my life, really. I find myself with too many projects going on at the same time. It’s starting to be rather unhealthy…
So, 20.000 words is a fine goal indeed! But honestly, any amount of words added to the Alvunne Saga is just a huge win. From 0 to 4.958 so far feels good! The first novel has finally taken off after over 12 years of dreaming and building.
Until this month, I had indeed been building the world. Just before Summer I started using World Anvil for this and so far, it has been a great experience! I joined challenges, worked on my languages and discovered new things about my own world. It’s funny how the mind conceals and reveals information. So here’s a logline about the project and a link to go and learn more about it. Keep in mind it’s all W.I.P. ^^
The Alvunne Saga is a fantasy space opera.
”When a continental landmass protected by a magical sphere named Alvunne, rises from the bottom of Earth’s ocean and shoots into the blackness of space, a student and a teacher of the Flagship, a university space station, crash land on its surface with no hope of help from Earth.”
📜 The Longest Journey
In September, I joined the Longest Journey challenge. In this unofficial World Anvil challenge, you write about a journey set in your own world. Each month, a new prompt issued by Tyrdal sends your story into a new direction.
I decided to follow Myrreos on his journey. He's the king of Ferinta who has been missing for over 20 years at the time of the Alvunne Saga main story. But I hadn't gotten him a backstory yet. So we're discovering this as we follow the prompts in the challenge.
The first article started things off in Pervalme, a lovely village. The latest chapter throws in drama and conflict! The prompt was: “A road or area rarely travelled - but why? “
Interesting, right? I thought so!
Feel free to go and read both the chapters here (1) and here (2). Do give them a like and follow the world of the Saga if you’re on World Anvil please ^^
🎙️ Livestreaming the learning curve
Every Thursday, you can find me babbling about worldbuilding & writing live on Twitch. We also talk about YOUR creative projects and yes, we make jokes too. In general, we read world building articles I find on World Anvil and do shout-outs!

Hope to see you there!
🚶 The life of me
Right now, I’m juggling three start-up projects and a bunch of house owner troubles. We have many works to do here, which takes up a lot of time :( collecting quotations and comparing firms and such. And it costs us a lot of money xP
Last weekend, we went to visit the art exhibition of Ine’s mother. She’s a great painter who you can find here. She’s been at this a long time and has done exhibitions in multiple EU cities, like Venice! This one was in Belgium though :( :p You can find her here.
For now though, it's time to return to the Alvunne Saga... Until next time!
